Sandqvist Stockholm Travel Guide

Whether you live in Sweden, or if you’re visiting for vacation, Stockholm has a lot to offer. But don’t get stuck in the tourist traps. We’ve scouted out some of some of the city’s hidden gems, to give you a more authentic Swedish experience.

Mirrored installation

This stunning piece of art is located in Nacka, and is named “Waiting Windows”. The multiple mirrored sculptures are placed in between trees, creating an optical illusion.

No matter if you enjoy art, or just want to look at something cool, this sculpture is definitely worth the visit.

Storkällans kapell

We get that a cemetery might not sound like it belongs on this list. But hear us out - the chapel at Storkällan is something else.

The chapel itself is an architectural masterpiece in brick, glass and steel, designed by architect Wolfgang Huebner. In contrast the surrounding nature is lush and serene.

Something Something

This art gallery is located on Folkungagatan in central Södermalm, not far from Sandqvist HQ. Filled to the brim with unique and interesting pieces, this place is worth a visit, whether you’re looking to shop or just look.

Look through their instagram @somethingsomething_sthlm to find some inspiration, book a class or a new piece to add to your home.

Tyresta national park

For being a large city, Stockholm makes it surprisingly easy to spend time in nature. One of our favourite spots for some fresh, pine-scented air is Tyresta national park. This oasis is located about 20 km away from the city center, and offers plenty of hiking trails. Read more about Tyresta national park and plan your next outdoor adventure.

Restaurang Emmer

This inn turned restaurant is located in Ulriksdal, just north of Solna. The menu is carefully curated from local produce, sometimes as local as inn’s own backyard.

Whilst the exterior looks like something out of a story book, the interior is modern and minimalistic. That combined with a delicious menu makes restaurant Emmer a perfect spot for lunch or dinner.

Boz Art

Our friend Mirja over at Boz Art creates stunning flower arrangements. She also has a flower shop, located on Krukmakargatan. No matter if you’re looking to buy or to get inspired, her store is worth a visit. Check her out on instagram @boz_arts for some incredible floral inspiration.

Stiernan Ramen

If you need a break from the classic Swedish cuisine, pay a visit to our friends over at Stiernan Ramen. Duck in through the green doors and you’ll find some of the best noodles Stockholm has to offer. You’ll find the restaurant at Österlånggatan in Gamla Stan, or over on Instagram @stiernanramen.

Svedjan bageri

This cozy bakery located in Zinkensdamm, Södermalm. The bakery has its roots outside of Skellefteå, where a small, family run farm opened the first location next to their barn. They have since expanded with a second location in Stockholm, and it makes the perfect spot for a cozy fika. Make sure to visitSvedjan bageri on Instagram.

Supermercado

Looking for something special for your next hosting occasion? Check out Mercado. This specialty grocery store imports its goods straight from Spain, offering an interesting selection of produce and products.

You’ll find pimentos padron, olives, manchego, and anything else you might need for your next tapas night. If you prefer to get it delivered instead, you can do so right on their website.

Götgatan store

Obviously we couldn’t make a travel guide without including a bit of self-promotion. Our store on Götgatan is not only worth a visit to meet our incredible staff and see our bags in person, but it’s also located on a great shopping street.

Whilst you’re in the area, make a day out of walking Götgatan from Slussen to Skanstull. There are plenty of interesting shops and fika spots along the way.
